President awarded Arts and Culture Citizen of the Year 2018

Wendy Schmid, President of the Embroiderers’ Guild NSW has been awarded, by the City of Canada Bay, the 2018 Arts and Culture Citizen of the Year at the Australia Day Ceremony  .

Each year the City of Canada Bay  salutes residents who work hard supporting the local community while achieving success in their chosen field.

The citation notes that :Wendy has led by example and worked tirelessly to bring The Art of Embroidery into the community. Under her Presidency the Guild has extended its work with children, refugee groups, distance learning and integration in the community including other cultural and artistic groups.  Wendy has also led Exhibition and Education Programmes for the Guild.

As Chair of the Embroiderers' Guild Capital Campaign team since 2009 Wendy has led the campaign to raise funds to create the Embroiderers Guild Centre of Excellence near Concord West Station for the promotion of Arts and Culture in NSW."
