Garlands of Poppies

In November we will be having a special display in the Gallery at the Guild to mark the 100 year anniversary of Armistice Day on 11 November.

As part of this we would like to decorate the entrance hall with garlands of poppies, the symbol of remembrance.

Poppy crocheted by Marie Laurie.

The button is from her father's coat.

Members are asked to make textile poppies to contribute to the display. You can find lots of patterns and examples on the internet, or use your imagination.

The final size of the poppy should be around 8-9 cm across when finished, with a safety pin on the back so the poppies can be attached to a ribbon or cord. Be as creative as you like with buttons, fabric, fibre, and thread.

Please send your poppies to Guild at 76 Queen Street, Concord West  NSW  2138 Monday 8 October.
