Festival of Samplers 2019

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we announce the 2019 Festival of Samplers. The festival will run from February to June, with an extensive course of workshops, talks and exhibitions in the final month. Bringing together well respected artists/tutors Alison Snepp, Effie Mitrofanis, Vivien Caughley (NZ) and Dianne Fisher (Embroiderers' Guild of South Australia); we invite Guild members and friends to join us in exploring their research and learning new skills.

‘The start of this lifetime’s work was usually the sampler, a word derived from the Latin ‘exemplum’.......an example. Thus the origin of the sampler is utilitarian; it was a means of learning and recording stitches and patterns, a practical aide-memoire.' Carol Humphrey- Fitzwilliam Museum-Cambridge University Press 1997.

Bookings are essential for all Sampler Festival Events as numbers are limited.  To book email info@embroiderersguildnsw.org.au or phone 02 9743 2501
